Belgian Premiere of the award-winning animated feature "Aurora's Sunrise" (2022) reviving the forgotten story of genocide survivor Aurora Mardiganian. Directed by Inna Sahakyan, the film will be presented by Marie-Aude Baronian (University of Amsterdam) and will be followed by a Q&A session.

Inna Sahakyan

Film Director

Over the last fifteen years, Inna Sahakyan has directed and produced a variety of film projects. Following the release of her feature-length debut as codirector of the award-winning Armenia’s Last Tightrope Dancer in 2010, she directed and wrote Mel and Aurora’s Sunrise, completing both in 2022. Inna also provides guidance to young filmmakers in Armenia.

Marie-Aude Baronian

Associate Professor in Visual Culture, University of Amsterdam

Marie-Aude Baronian holds a PhD in philosophy and in film studies. She is an Associate Professor in the Department of Media Studies at the University of Amsterdam where she teaches in the fields of film philosophy, aesthetics, visual culture, media and memory, French thought, and fashion theory. Marie-Aude Baronian has written extensively on and published works about the relationship between aesthetics and ethics, as well as on the relation between images, archive, testimony, and memory.
